Barbara Zipperer

Barb was born & raised in Two Rivers, WI. She was awarded a scholarship as a junior in high school for a summer art program at UWGB by the Lakeshore

Pallettiers in 1974. After high school her life became all about her family for many years. In 2017, Barb took her mother into her home to take care of her the last few months of her life. It was her mother who reminded her that she was good at art & that she should paint again. Her mother insisted that she start up her art practice again & went as far as giving her a 2x2 black & white photo to paint in color. That got her started again & she never looked back!

Barb took several classes that summer at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek, WI to refresh her skills. She studied under the late Kitty Klich. Barb’s work has an impressionist aire to it. She has explored painting with oils, acrylics, water colors, pastels and colored pencils. She likes to even mix some of these mediums with wood carvings. Lately it seems she has settled into exploring colored pencils to their limits! She is mixing oil based and waxed based pencils to create more brightly colored creations!
